STATUS OF THE INVESTIGATION PROCESS
WHERE ARE WE AT
The Promotion Committee for the registration of the “Castagna del Partenio PGI” was established on January 4, 2023 in Mercogliano (AV) between 19 local operators in the supply chain (Deed of Incorporation and Statute registered with the Revenue Agency of Avellino on January 23, 2023), to whom 46 other operators were later added, for a total, to date, of 65 promoters.
The request for registration of the PGI was submitted on February 14, 2023 to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests and to the Campania Region - Agricultural and Forestry Policies Directorate, pursuant to EU Regulation no. 2024/1143 and according to the procedure of the Ministerial Decree 2013.
On March 22, 23, the Region issued a positive opinion on the application for recognition and on the documentary dossier, sending it to the Ministry on the same date. MASAF, in turn, following the documentary investigation, called the planned public hearing for verification, in order to share the Production Regulations with all operators and local authorities, a meeting that was held regularly on 09/18/2024 in Summonte (AV).
Subsequently, the Ministry proceeded with the publication of the Production Regulations in the Official Journal for the purpose of any objections on the national territory by legitimate subjects. The publication in the GURI occurred on 10/10/2024 on no. 238 of the General Series.
After 30 days without receiving any objections, the Ministry, as a Member State and pursuant to EU Regulation no. 2024/1143, forwarded the application for registration of the Promotion Committee to the European Commission Services together with the Single Document and other documentation.
We are awaiting the European Commission's decisions on the request submitted at the end of the investigation process.
